The International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Standards) as issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) require that internal audit departments undergo a Quality Assessment Review (QAR) at least once every five years.

The principal objectives of a QAR are to assess the OIA’s conformance to IIA Standards, evaluate OIA’s effectiveness in carrying out its mission as set forth in its charter and expressed in the expectations of university management, and identify opportunities to enhance its management and work processes, as well as its value to the University of Florida.

The QAR consists of a team of independent reviewers from peer institutions and/or external organizations.

The results of a QAR are presented to the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees and are reported on a scale of three ratings: “generally conforms,” “partially conforms,” and “does not conform.”
